Cal ISO says conservation saved the grid during ‘frightening’ electric use

Conservation efforts allowed the California Independent System Operator to get through high peak demand Monday and Tuesday, Cal ISO CEO Steve Berberich said during a news conference Wednesday.

The state saw peak loads near its capacity on Monday and Tuesday, he said, and the heat through the entire West didn’t allow California to find additional spot power because it wasn’t available.
