The KIUC
Last year was a big year for Kauai’s energy scene. The AES Lawai solar-plus-storage facility came online, and the Kauai Island Utility Cooperative’s monthly renewable production reached as high as 56% last year. While members’ energy usage has increased by 1.8% in 2019 versus 2018, the KIUC continues to use 20% less fossil fuels, still meeting that need.
