A new metallurgical coal mining operation will bring 350 new jobs to Tuscaloosa County.
The $500 million project from Warrior Met Coal (NYSE: HCC) will build a new underground coal mining facility in the northern part of the county on Brandon School Road. Construction should begin March 1 with operations commencing in the second quarter of 2025.
The project is expected to increase the company’s production capacity by 54 percent and expand its portfolio to global customers.
