Coca-Cola pledges $11M ‘river clean-up’ initiative, but Greenpeace remains unimpressed

The Coca-Cola Co. has pledged millions of dollars toward river cleanup and research around the world, its latest attempt to address criticism that it’s a major polluter.

Detractors say it’s not enough.

Coke will spend $11 million on the de-pollution of nine rivers across multiple continents. The three-year program is a partnership between The Coca-Cola Foundation and the University of California at Santa Barbara. The effort will focus on rivers in Asia, Africa, North America and South America.…
