Compass CEO left the coal industry after Wall Street gave it the shaft

In leaving the coal industry for the CEO job at Overland Park-based Compass Minerals International Inc., Kevin Crutchfield was leaving a sinking industry for a much more stable one.

Crutchfield, who was named CEO of Compass in April, had a long history in coal, most recently as CEO of Contura Energy.
