Corpus Christi presses ahead with crude export terminal

The Port of Corpus Christi has leased the land where a Harbor Island crude export terminal is set to be built, moving the Carlyle Group LP-backed project forward.

The governmental body that runs the port entered into a 50-year lease on Thursday with the Carlyle Group and the Berry Group, which will operate the terminal under a joint venture known as Lone Star Ports LLC.

The lease covers 200 acres on Harbor Island, across the Corpus Christi Ship Channel from the tourist hub of Port Aransas.
