Corpus’ port reports record profits but ship traffic slowing

The oil market crash hasn’t yet hit the bottom line of the Port of Corpus Christi, with port officials reporting record income for the first quarter of the year.

The port made $54 million in the first three months of the year with $32.4 million in profit, Chief Financial Officer Kent Britton reported at a port commissioners meeting Tuesday. The money earned in the first quarter of 2020 is double from the first quarter of 2019 and the highest amount the port has ever brought in, Britton said.
