Councilman: PES refinery buyer says redevelopment could create 10,000 jobs

A future redevelopment of the shuttered Philadelphia Energy Solutions site has the potential to create 10,000 jobs, Councilman Kenyatta Johnson told the Business Journal after a briefing by the company that placed the winning bid for the refinery.

Hilco Redevelopment Partners, a unit of Chicago-based Hilco Global, won a bankruptcy court auction to purchase the defunct refinery for $240 million on Tuesday.
