What’s billed as a “first of its kind” electric truck charging site opened in Portland on Wednesday, an early step on a long road to developing the infrastructure needed to clean up freight transport.
Daimler Trucks North America and Portland General Electric collaborated on the project on Swan Island, where Daimler is developing electric trucks under its Freightliner brand.
The site has eight charging stations, most of which are open to the public, including electric car drivers.
