Duke Energy grant helps power up electric bus program

Asheville has installed five electric bus-charging stations with $200,000 from Duke Energy Corp.

The money comes from nearly $1.5 million the company set aside for installation of charging stations as part of a $4.4 million settlement Duke (NYSE: DUK) made in 2015 with regulators and environmental groups over allegations of violations of the federal Clean Air Act at 11 coal plants in North Carolina.
