Duke Energy makes $1.1M in ‘resiliency grants’ to NC communities

As Hurricane Dorian bears down on the Southeast, the Duke Energy Foundation announced grants totaling $1.1 million to help 65 North Carolina communities and organization to assist with preparations for storm response and recovery.

While the grants include some in western North Carolina counties — often to assist with problems from winter storms — more than three-fourths of them were in the eastern part of the state hard hit by hurricanes in recent years.
