The Duke Energy Foundation has awarded almost $500,000 in grants for wildlife conservation and environmental projects to 16 South Carolina organizations.
The grants include $25,000 to the Anne Springs Close Greenway in Fort Mill for cleaning water pollution and $20,000 to Audubon South Carolina to expand its wildlife tracking tower network in the Upstate.
The largest single grant was $78,000 to Trees Upstate to expand its Energy Saving Trees giveaway program by reaching out to Hispanic communities.
