Duke Energy Progress moves on second Asheville-area solar project

Regulators in North Carolina plan hearings in November on a long-promised, 5-megawatt solar project Duke Energy Progress plans as part of its Western Modernization project, which replaced its 376-megawatt Asheville Steam Coal Plant.

Duke is moving ahead now with the second of three solar projects that are part of a plan that included the $817 million Asheville Combined Cycle Station, a natural gas plant.
