Duke Energy Carolinas may be able to close two coal units at its Allen Steam Station two years earlier than previously announced and close one of its Cliffside units six years earlier.
Stephen De May, N.C. president for Duke Energy Corp. (NYSE: DUK), says the utility is accelerating the depreciation for three of the 13 coal units Duke Carolinas operates at four power plants, which will allow those units to close early.
