East Bay solar company settles racial discrimination lawsuit

A Bay Area solar panel installation company has been forced to pay a settlement with federal workplace regulators for allegedly denying service to people that management believed had Indian or Middle Eastern names.

San Leandro-based solar and home energy company Fidelity Home Energy, Inc., and its successor, Concord-based NorCal Home Systems, Inc., will pay $350,000 to a former employee and hire a consultant to resolve a discrimination lawsuit, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC)…
