Equitrans’ Southgate pipeline gets key federal approval

The Mountain Valley Pipeline has gotten a key approval for its extension into North Carolina.

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) issued a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity on Thursday for the 75-mile pipeline called MVP Southgate that will take natural gas from the Mountain Valley Pipeline under construction now to near Greensboro, North Carolina, from its initial termination point in Chatham, Virginia.
