Evergy’s purchase of coal-fired generation could cost consumers $12M, report says

When an Ohio utility failed to renew its lease for a portion of a coal-fired plant, Kansas City-based Evergy Inc. paid for the capacity — and now that cost may be passed on to ratepayers rather than investors.
