California-based Chevron Corp. (NYSE: CVX), which has a major presence in Houston, plans to cut thousands of jobs, according to media reports and anonymous posts on TheLayoff.com.
A spokeswoman confirmed to Reuters that Chevron expects to reduce its global headcount by 10% to 15% to “match projected activity levels.” As of Dec. 31, Chevron had approximately 48,200 total employees, but that figure is now around 45,000, per Reuters. That means Chevron will cut about 4,500 to 6,750 jobs worldwide.…
