California-based Chevron Corp. (NYSE: CVX), which has a major presence in Houston, plans to cut thousands of jobs, according to media reports and anonymous posts on TheLayoff.com.
A spokeswoman confirmed to Reuters that Chevron expects to reduce its global headcount by 10% to 15% to “match projected activity levels.” As of Dec. 31, Chevron had approximately 48,200 total employees, but that figure is now around 45,000, per Reuters.
