ExxonMobil shifts to hand sanitizer production as oil demand remains weak

Exxon Mobil Corp. modified manufacturing operations in Louisiana to produce medical-grade hand sanitizer, the Irving-based oil and gas giant announced Friday.

Exxon (NYSE: XOM) will initially produce 160,000 gallons of hand sanitizer that will be donated to medical providers and first responders in Louisiana, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Pennsylvania and Texas. The amount of sanitizer is equivalent to nearly 5 million 4-ounce bottles, and the company has plans for additional donation locations.
