Hawaii gas, Hawaiian Electric extend utility cancelation moratoriums

In response to the state’s extension of work at home orders, Hawaii Gas and Hawaiian Electric Co. Inc. have extended moratoriums on service cancellations due to non-payment, both utility companies announced this week.

Hawaii Gov. David Ige announced over the weekend that many of the state’s Covid mandates, including the closure of non-essential businesses and 14-day quarantine for those flying in, would be extended to the end of May, instead of April 30. Previously, several local utility groups…
