Hawaii Public Utilities Commission extends postponement of utility disconnections through end of the year

The Hawaii Public Utilities Commission ordered the continued suspension of service utility disconnections due to nonpayment through the end of the year.

Both Hawaiian Electric and the Kauai Island Utility Cooperative have suspended disconnections through Dec. 31.

In the order, the Commission emphasized that customers should continue paying their bills to the extent possible during this time, noting that customers will still ultimately be responsible for their bills after the suspension is lifted.
