Hawaiian Electric to permanently close walk-in payment centers

Hawaiian Electric’s walk-in payment centers in Honolulu, Kahului, Hilo, Kona and Molokai have been closed since March. Now, the utility company says they will permanently close due to declining use and higher customer adoption of other payment options like its Online Customer Service Center, auto pay and mobile app services.

Before the pandemic, fewer than 5% of customers used the company’s walk-in payment centers, according to Hawaiian Electric.
