Hawaiian Electric Co. connected 55% more private rooftop solar systems in 2020 than it did in 2019, the utility announced on Monday.
Its 5,965 systems installed on Oahu, Maui County and Hawaii Island easily surpassed the 3,840 it hooked up the year before, despite the Covid-19 pandemic emerging locally in March.
