JEA has lost the lawsuit it was using to try to get out of its costly contract with Plant Vogtle, the nuclear power plant being built in Georgia, although a judge is allowing discovery on a related issue to proceed.
JEA is trying to escape the deal because of huge cost overruns on the project, which the utility has said will lead to higher electrical rates being charged to consumers.
The utility had argued in the lawsuit that the contract was invalid because JEA didn’t have the legal authority…
