Major Duke Energy deal with solar developers should move stalled projects forward

Duke Energy Corp. reached a settlement with nine top Carolinas solar developers to resolve grid connection issues for dozens of stalled projects, likely clearing the way for 650 to 800 megawatts worth of additional construction.

Duke and the developers say the agreement will revamp the state procedures for connecting solar projects to the grid in North Carolina. Both sides say the queue reform, which the regulators must approve, will make connection requirements clearer, make connections move faster…
