N.C. Utilities Commission delays Duke Energy rate-hike hearing amid coronavirus fears

State regulators have indefinitely postponed next week’s hearing on Duke Energy Carolinas’ proposed 6% rate hike. The N.C. Utilities Commission issued the order less than an hour after Duke asked the hearing be delayed at least 60 days, citing the “escalating health and safety crisis” surrounding the spread of the novel coronavirus known as COVID-19.
