Nearly 300 more lose jobs in South Texas due to oil market crash

More oil field services companies are shutting down plants and laying off hundreds of workers from Cibolo to Corpus Christi in response to the crash in oil prices.

Jet Speciality Inc., Cameron International Corp. and Signal Peak Silica LLC are collectively laying off 287 workers across five locations in South Texas. Cameron, which is a subsidiary of publicly-traded Schlumberger NV (NYSE: SLB), also announced that it was permanently closing its plants in Corpus Christi and in Karnes County.
