Oilfield service firms predict 2020 spending cuts

Many companies in Texas’ oil and gas fields ended the year on a sour note, with most telling the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas that they plan to cut spending next year in anticipation of continued troubles in 2020.

The Dallas Fed reported Friday that the oil and gas industry contracted in the fourth quarter, though not as much as it did in the third quarter. The industry was perhaps saved from further contraction by oil and gas production firms, which reported modest growth in the last quarter…
