Pa. fines Sunoco $313K for pipeline construction violations

Sunoco has been fined $313,000 for violations of the Clean Streams Law and waterway pollution, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection said Thursday. 

The brunt of the fine, just over $240,000, resulted from horizontal drilling during construction of its Mariner East 2 pipeline. The Delaware-organized fuel company (NYSE: SUN) was issued two penalties by the DEP for “unauthorized discharges of drilling fluids consisting of bentonite clay and water” to multiple waterways in Pennsylvania.…
