Pacific Ethanol CEO says bankruptcy ‘not an attractive option’

Pacific Ethanol Inc. reported its 10th straight quarter of losses, but its CEO said the Sacramento-based company has no plans to declare bankruptcy.

For more than three years, ethanol markets have been oversupplied. At the same time, the Trump administration’s trade war with China has cut more than 1 billion gallons of U.S. ethanol sales, Pacific Ethanol CEO Neil Koehler said on a conference call with investors and analysts Thursday.
