PGE, PacifiCorp say Covid-19 won’t jeopardize wind power tax breaks

Oregon’s two major investor-owned electric utilities say their wind power projects remain on course to qualify for a key tax incentive despite the Covid-19 pandemic.

In recent years, Portland General Electric and PacifiCorp proposed moving fast to build new wind farms in order to qualify for the full benefit of the federal production tax credit, which is ratcheting down in value.

Turbines have to be spinning by the end of this year to qualify for the PTC at 100 percent of its value, $24 per megawatt-hour…
