Pioneer, other oil companies ask state regulators to limit output

Pioneer Natural Resources Co. wants the Texas Railroad Commission to do something it hasn’t done in nearly half a century.

The Irving-based exploration and production company made its case in favor of limiting the state’s output of oil to the regulating body Tuesday. More than 50 speakers — including other industry executives, stakeholder associations and experts — were slated to discuss pros and cons of proration during the virtual meeting.
