Plant Vogtle, the only nuclear power construction project in the U.S., is expected to receive a $3.7 billion infusion from the U.S. Department of Energy, Bloomberg has reported.
The $3.7 billion would come in the form of loan guarantees and would be in addition to the $8.3 billion the DOE has already given in loan guarantees to the Georgia project, which is about $14 billion over budget and five years behind schedule.
