Peoples Gas will receive a lower rate increase than it had requested in a settlement approved Thursday by the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission.
The commission voted 4-0 for the settlement, which would raise its operating revenue by $59.5 million, or 8.9 percent. The average monthly bill in its Peoples Division would increase 7.5 percent from $74.24 to $79.84, while the Equitable Division would go up 12.8 percent from $70.79 to $79.84.
