Retired admiral is new chairman of Hawaiian Electric Industries

Hawaiian Electric Industries said Wednesday that retired Adm. Thomas Fargo has been elected chairman of the Honolulu-based parent of Hawaiian Electric Co. and American Savings Bank.

Fargo succeeds Jeff Watanabe, who retired at the Hawaiian Electric Industries (NYSE: HE) annual meeting on Tuesday after 14 years as chairman and a total of 33 years on the board.
