Sacramento Food Bank will save $200,000 with new solar array

The Sacramento Municipal Utility District has installed a solar array on the Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services building in Oak Park that will save it $200,000 in costs, allowing more resources to go to feeding people.

The utility paid about $92,000 of the total for the $110,000 installation, mostly through its Community Solar Program, which is mainly funded through customer donations, said spokeswoman Lindsay VanLaningham.
