Solar industry sees bright future, though in Appalachia, it’s cloudier

The solar industry saw a nationwide increase in jobs in 2019, although those gains didn’t show up in either Pennsylvania or West Virginia.

The Solar Foundation’s National Solar Jobs Census released Wednesday found an addition of 5,643 jobs in the solar industry over the past year to almost 250,000 workers, spurred by solar installations and a drop in costs for solar facilities.
