Southern Research receives a $2.8M grant for nuclear project

Southern Research has been awarded a $2.8 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy to develop smart maintenance robots that will work autonomously in nuclear reactors. 

The grant came from the DOE’s Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy.

The project will use artificial intelligence and machine learning to train the robots to complete maintenance tasks at a future molten salt reactor facility.
