Spire pipeline can temporarily continue operations

The Spire pipeline will be allowed to continue operations, according to a ruling Friday.

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission extended Spire Missouri’s emergency pipeline permit through winter.

In June, a federal appeals court panel ruled that the FERC didn’t adequately demonstrate the need for the 65-mile pipeline that was approved in 2018 and runs through parts of Illinois and Missouri. It was ordered to shut down the Spire STL Pipeline by Dec. 13.
