Tampa Electric will invest approximately $800 million to add 600 megawatts of solar power by the end of 2023.
When the expansion is complete, Tampa Electric will have more than 1,250 MW of solar power, which is enough to power more than 200,000 homes, according to a statement. That would account for about 14 percent of the utility’s energy — the highest percentage of solar power of any utility in Florida.
