Tesla Inc. plans to build a new “test structure” at its factory in Fremont to help the company test its new solar roof tiles, which were introduced in 2017, but have been delayed due to unexpectedly difficult design challenges.
The permit, first spotted by CNBC, asks for permission to build a “test structure to evaluate Tesla solar roof products and installation process.”
The company did not immediately comment on the report.
