A local mine has ratified a new contract after a multiple-month employee strike.
Members of the United Mine Workers of America (UMWA) Local Union 1948 have ratified a new collective bargaining agreement at the Shoal Creek metallurgical coal mine in Alabama.
The vote has a 63% to 37% margin, according to a release. The mine, operated by Peabody Energy, has been idle since Oct. 4, 2020.
