Utilities suspend disconnections, late fees amid coronavirus outbreak

Two energy utilities have joined an area water company in temporarily suspending service disconnections in response to customers’ hardships during the coronavirus outbreak.

Ameren Corp. said Saturday that its Missouri and Illinois subsidiaries would suspend service disconnections and forgive late payment fees for nonpayment by business and residential customers through at least May 1.
