Utility reform bill with carbon-reduction goals hits Gov. Cooper’s desk

The N.C. House voted 90-20 today to approve the Senate’s compromise utility reform legislation that includes carbon-reduction goals and potential multiyear rate hikes for Duke Energy utilities.

The “Energy Solutions for North Carolina” act, known generally as House Bill 951, goes now to Gov. Roy Cooper for his signature. Cooper negotiated the compromise with Senate Republican leaders.
