With gas prices on the rise, brace for $4 a gallon at the pump

Gasoline prices have risen in San Jose every week for the last seven weeks and the hike since April 1 — 14.5 cents a gallon — has been the largest seven-day increase in that period, according to a survey of 427 local stations conducted by GasBuddy.

The average gas price in San Jose, as of Monday, was $3.78 a gallon. That’s 46.8 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and 22.8 cents per gallon higher than a year ago, GasBuddy reported.
