The over 2,000 Xcel Energy Inc. employees who work in the company’s headquarters in downtown Minneapolis won’t be coming back to the office until at least next year.
About half of the the company’s 12,000 employees and contractors — spread across eight states — are critical-service, frontline workers who operate control centers, power plants and build infrastructure such as power and natural gas lines, a spokesperson for the Minneapolis-based power company said in an email last week.
