AEP CEO: Texas power crisis shows need for infrastructure reform

The power outages that roiled Texas this month show a need to modernize the American energy infrastructure, the CEO of American Electric Power Company Inc. said Thursday.

Nick Akins, CEO of Columbus-based American Electric Power (NASDAQ:AEP), made the comments as he discussed the impact of the winter storm that knocked out power to huge swaths of the state, including scores of the 1.05 million customers in south and central parts of the state served by the company’s AEP Texas Inc. subsidiary.
