More than 200 will lose jobs in Gallup as oil giant idles refinery
Marathon Petroleum Corp. (NYSE:MPC) plans to shutter its refinery in Gallup for an indefinite period, and the company wants to evaluate the future of its facility in Martinez, Calif.
The Ohio-based petroleum refinery operator told employees at both refineries on Friday that the facilities would be idled, according to a statement provided by Marathon Petroleum Corporate Communications Manager Jamal Kheiry. The company did not plan to restart operations, the statement said.
