Cumberland Mine partially idled due to geology
The Cumberland Mine in Greene County was temporarily idled over the weekend due to a geological concern, the mine’s owners said.
Contura Energy Inc. (NYSE: CTRA) said continuous miner development and preparation plants were temporarily idled Friday due to a soft clay bottom found on the longwall section. It would cut down on the production from the longwall section at the Cumberland mine but coal would continue to ship from the preparation plant.
