Beaver Valley’s parent company gets new name

The owner of the Beaver Valley nuclear plant and the Bruce Mansfield coal-fired power station will have a new name.

Akron-based FirstEnergy Solutions will be renamed Energy Harbor when it emerges from bankruptcy, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported. The name change is slated to take effect before the end of this year.

The company is still planning on closing both the Beaver Valley and Bruce Mansfield plants. The latter has already stopped producing electricity, while Beaver Valley will stop operating…
